CELFI (Centro Latinoamericano de Formación Interdisciplinaria) organizes the 1st Hands on course in Machine Learning applied to Neuroimaging and EEG from March 20 through 25 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The course will take place at the University of Buenos Aires as a satellite to the 2nd LABMAN meeting. CELFI offers full fellowships to cover the travel, accommodation and the attendance to the 2nd LABMAN Meeting for 20 Latin Americans and 20 Argentinians.

Brain Awareness Week 2017

March 13-19, 2017.
The Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is an international campaign for the diffusion of neuroscience research, that is realized annually in many places since 1996. It was funded by Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives (www.dana.org/BAW) and has as partners in different countries, institutions like scientific societies, universities, hospitals, schools, ONGs, etc. BAW2017 will be held from March 13 to 19, 2017.

Workshop ”Dynamical Network States, Criticality and Cortical Function”

March 25-28, 2017 in Delmenhorst, Germany.
Cortical information processing relies heavily on the collective dynamics of neurons and networks distributed over many brain areas. A key concept for understanding this process is the idea that networks operate near a critical state, which offers several potential benefits for computation and information processing. Workshop on Microelectrode Techniques for Cell Physiology

August 30-September 13, 2017 in Plymouth, UK.
The workshop provides intensive practical experience of a number of microelectrode, patch clamp and optical techniques applied to single cells. It is intended for postgraduate students, post-doctoral workers or established scientists wishing to apply these techniques in their research.

1st International Workshop on Adaptive Shot Learning for Gesture Understanding and Production ASL4GUP 2017

8th International Workshop Statistical Analysis of Neuronal Data (SAND8)

May 31 – June 2, 2017 in Pittsburgh, USA.
Studies of the neural basis of behavior typically use time-varying stimuli and produce time-varying neuronal responses. Statistically, the setting involves both continuous multiple time series and inhomogeneous point processes, sometimes dozens or hundreds of them observed simultaneously. There are many challenging analytical issues, including that of combining information obtained from multiple modalities (EEG, fMRI, MEG, and extracellular recordings).

Two Doctoral Positions @ The Physiology of Action Lab, University of Buenos Aires (Argentina)

We are looking for two graduate students to join a Project aimed at studying the application of non-invasive techniques to booster learning and memory during wake and sleep. Candidates should know how to program in Matlab and have experience in the analysis of time series. The Project involves running behavioral studies, and using EEG, TDCS and MRI to obtain brain measurements related with memory reactivation and plasticity. Previous experience in any of these techniques is a plus! We are hoping to incorporate candidates as soon as possible. Salary is above that provided by the National Research Council.

Post Doctoral Position with Drs. Bastian and Celnik @ Johns Hopkins (USA)

A post-doctoral fellow position is available to work in conjunction in the Motion Analysis and the Human Brain Physiology and Stimulation Laboratory of Johns Hopkins University directed by Drs. Amy Bastian and Pablo Celnik. These laboratories are devoted to the study of motor control from a behavioral and neurophysiological perspective. The overall aim is to understand motor learning mechanisms in healthy individuals as well as cerebellar and stroke patients. These laboratories use behavioral, motion analysis and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques (TMS and tDCS).

The position is to start immediately. The appointment would be for 2 years with a possibility of extending to 3. The salary will be determined by experience following NIH standards.

Postdoctoral Position @ ICM Research Center (Paris, France)

The topic of the job is the detection of conscious processing in patients with brain lesions (disorders of consciousness – DOC). Our laboratory is specialized in the development of EEG tools for measuring the state of consciousness in those patients.

In this new project we are going to study if the signals of physiological processes (like cardiac and/or respiratory rhythm) can be used jointly with EEG ones for improving the diagnosis performance.

Candidate should ideally have experience with protocols of cognitive stimulation and in quantitative analysis. The position is for 14 months and should start as soon as possible.

One postdoctoral position is available within the Laboratory of Psychiatric Neuroimaging (LIM21) at the University of São Paulo Medical School, Brazil, directed by Geraldo F. Busatto, Ph.D.
We are looking for a full-time researcher with previous experience in the use of software for the analysis of neuroimaging data. This post-doctoral fellow will be requested to work mainly with data acquired using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging methods (rs-fMRI) to evaluate patterns of functional connectivity in the brain.

Postdoc position in Electrophysiology (and Zika infection) @ Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (Natal, Brazil)A 3-year postdoctoral position is available at Brain Institute, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, Brazil. The study involves assessing electrophysiological properties of adult neurons infected with Zika virus. The candidates for this position ideally have experience in patch clamp and desire to integrate this data with optophysiology using genetically encoded calcium sensors. This post-doc will take place at INRIA Sophia Antipolis-Méditerranée using the latest tools in Diffusion MRI and EEG signal processing to answer a challenging neuroimaging question.

Postdoctoral Position on Rhythmic Dynamics of Visual Perception and Attention (France)

Postdoctoral positions at Neuroinformatics Collaboratory in UESTC (China)

The postdoctoral researchers will join the projects i) to develop computational methods to examine network-level structural and functional brain connectivity to shed light on the neurobiological mechanism of disease, paving the way for early detection and intervention; ii) to develop new mathematical and statistical techniques for processing neurofeedback in real time using fMRI and EEG and further application in clinical setting to modify altered brain circuits.

Requirements: Candidates must have a strong background in computational neuroscience and/or mathematical modeling and have at least one first authored publication in relevant subjects. They must have obtained or about to obtain a PhD from Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related field with research interests in neuroinformatics, cognitive neuroscience and/or multimodal neuroimaging. Experience with MRI, fMRI and EEG processing is preferred.

Applicants should have an honours and a Masters degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science or another other relevant area and have a strong interest in consciousness and cognitive science coupled with strong computational skills (e.g. Python) and experience with state-of-the art neuroscience techniques.

The student will receive a stipend of 16.000 € during the first 2 years and 18.000 € during the last 2 years, as well as having tuition fees covered.
